I'm in the USA!

Hello! Long time no see!

Now I sit surprising enough in a cafe in the USA! I've traveled to a city called Charlottesville. It is the second largest city in the state of North Carolina. I have now been here for about two weeks, and during the two weeks I've been trying to notice the youth here in the USA!

Here in the U.S. is uniform very important in some of the schools. It is an incredibly disciplined system. Even when they need to go to the toilet, some of the school needs to deliver a note to the teacher to leave the classroom. If they are sick, they get sent to the nurse and then the parents have to come and write them out of school.

Sports are a big part of the school here. Each school has a football team, a basketball team and cheerleaders. These are not leisure activities here, like in Norway. It is a part of the school, and they can get scholarships for further collage of doing this. Since they have to pay for collage here.

So the school system is very different from here in Norway. It is VERY discipline. They can’t even chewing gum. So I totally like me back in Norway with the school system we have.

I think that the teenagers in USA work a little bit more that Norwegian youth. Because of collage! But I think they mostly are doing the same thing that we do in our spare time.

WALES

Right now we lie in bed, and just relaxing. Hedvig still sleep, so I thought that I could use a little time to blog!
Northern Ireland was really good! Yesterday or night, we arrived Swansea, which is in Wales. Swansea is the second biggest city in Wales. We both wanted to go to Wales as our next stop because of the background her. And when I’m writing about the background, it was actually the Vikings from Norway who established this city (Swansea) when they came and plundered the coastline.

This time we chose to go two places in one country; first two nights here in Swansea, and then take a ferry a bit south toward the island Gower Peninsula.
Tonight we’ve been talking about going to a fancier restaurant, witch mean – SHOPPING. We shopped a lot in Northern Ireland.. but it can never be too much for a girl.

In Gower Peninsula we want to test out surfing. Surfing is something that Hedvig and I never have tried out. So we signed up for “Gower Surfing School”. That are going to be interesting. The second day we are going to play paintball too. This is something I’ve played some before, while Hedvig has never tried, so this should be fun!
Now Hedvig went into the bathroom to get ready, which I also should to! Shopping- here we comeee!

Northern Ireland

After the excitement of Newcastle and Glasgow, were looking forward to the next step of our trip. We went from Glasgow three days ago.

Three days ago we took the main ferry link from Scotland to Northern Ireland. On the ferry, Hedvig and I met an older man, around 70 years. He was talking a lot about Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. He told us how Ireland was a part of United Kingdom politically, but a part of Ireland geographically and why there had been a lot of troubles and conflict in the last thirty years. I’ve never think I have learned so much in such a short time. We could ask him anything about United Kingdom’s history.

When we came to Belfast we were so tired, so we just got undressed and plunged in bed. When we woke up it was our shopping day off our trip. We had no plans, and that was so wonderful. We shopped A LOT. I’ve never used so much money that I have today. The good thing with shopping in Ireland is that they have their own stores. So hopefully, there is no one home in Norway that has these clothes. After the shopping day, we just ate
out.

This morning we took the bus from Belfast to Dublin. We are going to stay her to-morrow.  Here in Dublin we have no special plans either. Just take everything on the fly. But tomorrow, it is the Orangemen’s Day. Orangemen’s Day are for to commemorate the Battle of Aughrim, were the Protestant got their victory over the Catholics in 1692. So I guess that tomorrow, we’ll watch the parade and eat some good Food and than try out some of the pubs nearby.

Glasgow!

Hey! I didn't have any internet access until now! So I have not been blogging the last few days. Last night we found Starbucks around the corner of our hotel, witch is an Internet café. So we’re sitting here now and drinking a good cup coffee.

Our hotel is a four stars hotel and is located around twenty minutes from Glasgow city. It is a Golf resort so we are going to try the golfing in afternoon. The hotel also has a swimming pool. So that’s nice! And for not speaking about our rooms! The beds are to die for! They are so comfortable. I think I’ve never slept so well in a hotel before, like I have the last few days! The breakfast and the restaurant are okay. I have taste better dinner and seen a better menu, so every afternoon we’ve been eating out in the city.

Yesterday we were a bit everywhere. Hedvig is not a normal youth, or she is of course, but she has a little strange interest. She LOVES to visit and see different churches. So she would go and see the St. Mungo Cathedral when we first visited Glasgow. So I joined her.

When Hedvig was done with taking pictures, we rented a car and went to Stirling Castle. Stirling castle is a historic castle here in Glasgow. The castle was originally built in the 1300’s, and has only been fixed in the forward to the 1700’s. I think it’s unbelievable that it looks as it does today.

We’ve also went to see the Hunterian Museum and Glengoyne Distillery to taste whiskey. I wished I could write more about it, but we need to go from the café, so we can reach the golfing before it gets too late!

Discovery Museum and soccergame!

Hallo!

We have just come from an amazing game! It was totally sick, but I’ll come back to the game later in the post. Now I’ll write about the museum as I was yesterday.

Yesterday we were on the Discovery museum. It was really fun. The museum is a science museum and about local history built in 1934. This museum was the first UK science museum outside of London. We looked on a light bulb invented by Joseph Swan in Newcastle with Thomas Edison from 1878. So it is a long time ago.

Something else we looked at was Turbinia. Turbinia is 34 metre long ship built by Charles Algernon Parsons.

Even when it was a little bored, we enjoyed it. Later we went to Starbucks café.

The match itself was decent. What was great, was all the crowd and the atmosphere. Like I said on the top, it was totally sick. I have not words.. I really recommed a soccargame with so big teams. Even if you not like football, you we'll fall in love in just the experience

So i really recommed to travel to Newcastle. I have not blogged about the shopping we've been doing, but it's a great place to shopping, and not so many People. So it's Perfect.

Here are some pictures of our hotel:

The point with our trip to Newcastle are the footballmatch, Newcastle against Manchester United. So we think that this trip will be terrific!
